Members of SFGC’s Concert Group joins the cast of SF Opera’s Carmen as part of the children’s choir. Jealousy and obsession lead to fatal consequences in Francesca Zambello’s production in which matadors bump shoulders with factory workers in the heat of Seville. 
Bizet’s evocative score features some of the most recognizable music in opera, brought to life by conductor Benjamin Manis.

The concert will feature new lullabies created in Noe Music’s Lullaby Project alongside the world premiere of a new work for the SF Girls Chorus and instrumentalists by Cava Menzies with lyrics generated from Bay Area community members to commemorate this special gathering.

The co-production by Ninth Planet ensemble and InTandem features stunning imagery of the Falkland Islands, richly orchestrated music performed by Ninth Planet players, and glorious singing by a stellar cast. The GRAMMY award winning Premiere Ensemble presents the choral premiere of Kamala’s Hope by San Francisco-based composer Candace Forest. Soprano Shawnette Sulker, cellist Emil Miland, and organist Jerome Lenk perform alongside for this work based on two Vice-Presidential acceptance speeches given by then Senator Kamala Harris in August 2020. The program also includes the world premiere of I See You, I Hear You, I Believe You by American composer Ursula Kwong-Brown, written in the wake of the #MeToo movement, as well as three SFGC commissions by Angélica Negrón, Amy X Neuburg, and Pamela Z.
