About
San Francisco Girls Chorus’s Community book club series is centered around Tomorrow’s Memories: A Diary by Angeles Monrayo, the true diary of Monrayo, a Filipina girl who immigrated to Hawaii and California in the 1920’s. The diary is the inspiration of our newly commissioned choral-opera by Matthew Welch. Leading up to the premiere of Tomorrow’s Memories in June of 2022, each month we will host a group discussion led by a variety of leaders, field experts, and community members about topics relating to Filipino heritage, immigration, music history, and more. These sessions serve as an opportunity to discuss the intersection of history and art making.
